To inspire conscious development of sustainable Black communities through the practice of mindful collective principles,
Our vision is to fully engage Black led community development organizations in the conscious rebuilding and restoration of Black under-resourced and disinvested communities through creating transformational paradigm shifts in community development.

Responsibilities:
The Board Member will support the work of The Network for Developing Conscious Communities and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
Legal Duties
- Duty of Care: Take care of the nonprofit by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and goodwill;
- Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that the nonprofit’s activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission; Recognize and disclose conflicts of interest; Make decisions that are in the best interest of the nonprofit corporation; not in the best interest of the individual board member (or any other individual or for-profit entity).
- Duty of Obedience: Ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and that the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission.
Leadership, governance, and oversight
- Regularly attends board meetings and important related meetings.
- Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work.
- Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time.
- Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
- Gets to know other committee members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.6.Is an active participant in the committee’s annual evaluation and planningefforts.7.Participates in fundraising for the organization
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
- A commitment to and understanding of Network for Developing Conscious Communities’ beneficiaries, preferably based on experience
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals e Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Network for Developing Conscious Communities beneficiaries
- A connection to or understanding of the Black community development ecosystem
